Waterfalls heal our nerves. Waterfalls soothe our eyes and wash all the negative emotions tangled inside our minds without a single penny. The height of the waterfalls is often measured using trigonometrical calculations.
1. Angel Falls
Venezuela’s pride; Angel Falls is considered the world’s tallest natural waterfall with a height of 3212 feet (979 meters). In Bolivar, the Angel Waterfall is located at Canaima National Park.

2. Tugela Falls
The second tallest in the world, Tugela Falls is about 3107 feet (947 meters) tall. Though the opinion about who is the tallest in the world between Angel and Tugela is split into two, Tugela is undoubtedly an iconic landmark of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
- The name Tugela is obtained from the Zulu word Thukela which means sudden. Tugela River is the origin of the falls.
- Hiking and trails are the ways to access Tugela.
- Drakensberg Amphitheatre is located in the area.
- If you witness the heavy flow of Tugela Falls, November-February is the ideal time. During winter, ice formations are another attraction of Tugela.
3. Tres Hermanas Falls
At Junin, Peru, Tres Hermanas is touching the ground at 2999 feet (914 meters) height. Tres Hermanas is considered the third tallest natural waterfall on the earth.
- The formation of Tres Hermanas Falls is by cloud forest precipitation.
- Otishi National Park is the area where the falls are located.
- It requires special permission and local guides to access it.
- The dry season from May to October is the best time to visit.
4. Olo’upena Falls
The height of 2953 feet (900 meters) of Olo’upena has made it the fourth tallest natural waterfall on the earth. The waterfall is located at Molokai in Hawaii, United States.
- The rainfall water from Molokai’s isolated northeastern coast is considered the waterfall’s source.
- The wet season from January to April is recommended to visit.
- The best way to get the view is only by air or sea, especially by helicopter or boat tour.
5. Yumbilla Falls
The vast greenery of Peruvian Amazonas hosts the world’s fifth tallest waterfall Yumbilla. It has a height of about 2940 feet (896 meters).
- The Catarata river is the origin of the falls.
- The ways to access Yumbilla Falls are hiking and local guides.
- The ideal season to visit Yumbilla Falls is the dry season from May to September.
6. Skorga Falls
Skorga Falls is the 6th tallest waterfall in Norway. Skorga Falls is about 2871 feet (875 meters) tall at More og Romsdal county.
- The falls originate from melted snow and rain from mountain slopes.
- There is no direct trail to access the falls. You can hike through local paths. The falls are visible at Trollstigen or Andalnes region.
- The ideal time to visit Skorga Falls is during the snowmelt season from May to July.
7. Balaifossen
In Vestland County of Norway, the 7th tallest waterfall Balaifossen is located. The waterfall is about 2789 feet(850 meters) tall.
- Snow melt is the origin of the waterfalls.
- You can take a short drive from the Ulvik to the viewpoint.
- The ideal time to visit Balaifossen is the same as Skorga Falls, May to June.
8.Vinnufossen
Again it’s in Norway. Vinnufossen is about 2772 feet (845 meters), the 8th tallest waterfall in the world.
- Vinnu river is the origin of the waterfalls.
- The Sunndalsora village is the easiest access way and roadside views are available.
- May to August is the ideal time to visit.
9. Mattenbachfall
The 9th tallest waterfall Mattenbachfall is at the famous Lauterbrunnental in Switzerland. The total height is about 2756 feet 9840 meters).
- The Alpine snow and melt is the origin of the falls.
- The iconic Lauterbrunnen valley is surrounding the falls. So local trails are the easiest way to visit Mattenbachfall.
- The best time to visit the fall Mattenbachfall is from May to July.
10. Pu’uka’oku Falls
Another tallest waterfall after Olo’upena Falls at Molokai, Hawaii. This 10th tallest waterfall in the United States is 2756 feet (840 meters) tall.
- Rainfall through sea cliffs is the origin of the falls.
- You can have a beautiful view of the falls by helicopter or boat just like Olo’upena.
- The best time to visit this is January to April.
